The Carolina Reaper Chilli Plant (formerly known as HP22B) is still the official Hottest Chilli in the World! It delivers an average of 1,641,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), a new figure now confirmed by Guinness World Records. It has said to peak at 2.2 million SHU’s.
It is a hybrid between a Habanero and Naga Viper, both of the Capsicum Chinense family.
The Carolina Reaper is described as having a fruity, sweet taste with a hint of cinnamon and chocolate undertones. It has a slow burn, building over several minutes before it reaches its peak.
